Mashed Potato with bacon and cabbage, from the Celtic SAMHAIN festival

A plate of mashed potato

One thankfully simple dish on the menu, complicated by the fact that the traditional recipe I was following asked you to peel them WHILE HOT from the cooking. I got halfway through before time and burning paws forced me to make two versions: Skinless and extra Skins. The Skinless was actually served, the rest left for leftovers. Bacon and cabbage were basically sauteed separately and added to the mash with double cream and some seasoning.

It was originally served in nice bowls, but no photos exist.

Damages:

Used up two pans and two bowls for peeling and mashing. Not a lot of effort, chopping cabbage and bacon. Only the peeling hot potatoes seems a chore. If you peeled beforehand, would make things so much easier, but that's the recipe. Actually not that much fuss, and normally why bother removing the skins. Note, I possible also overcooked potatoes slightly.

Result:

It worked well. It is supposed to be served cold, but I think it would be just as good hot. Everyone wanted more.
