Was a very salty-sweet drink that you had to make yourself from the powder in the silver packet (apparently it is made with pickled plums and seaweed), and with a couple of sweetened rice crackers. You definitely need to eat and drink at the same time, though some older Japanese gentlemen were simply floating the crackers on top of their tea. Either way, it’s certainly an acquired taste, and pretty shocking the first time to try.
